PBL SEC: Designing an AI Learning Buddy
Class

Lessons
Here is the class outline:
1. Project Launch Phase [WK 1]This phase introduces the PBL challenge of designing an AI Learning buddy. Learners explore the project's driving question and use MindMapping to visualize project goals and features. The objective is to create a clear visual concept of the project's aims, helping learners set specific, measurable goals for their AI learning buddy. |
2. Research and Knowledge Building Phase: [WK 2]Learners get into AI and machine learning concepts, focusing on their application in education. They create a knowledge map outlining key AI and ML concepts, emphasizing how these can be implemented to solve the identified PBL challenge. This phase builds a foundation of understanding for the project. |
3. Emphathy and Design Phase [WK 3]In this phase, learners identify design needs and user pain points. They brainstorm essential features for an AI learning buddy and develop project plans. Activities include creating idea boards and Gantt charts. The goal is to produce user personas, empathy maps, and design requirements, ensuring the AI companion addresses real user needs. |
4. Prototyping and Development Phase: [WK 4-6]This phase focuses on data collection and preparation for the AI learning buddy. Learners identify relevant educational data, create data collection trackers, and learn about data preprocessing. The objective is to develop a data collection plan and prepare a clean dataset ready for AI analysis, crucial for the learning buddy's functionality. |
5. Implementation and Testing Phase [7-10]Learners implement AI algorithms for natural language processing and machine learning using MindStudio. They focus on coding, testing, and refining these algorithms. The deliverable is a set of working AI algorithms along with a report on their accuracy and performance, demonstrating the practical application of their learning. |
6. Presentation and Iteration Phase [WK 11-12]
Nov 27
The final phase involves preparing and delivering a project presentation. Learners rehearse, gather feedback, and make iterations based on expert insights. The objective is to finalize the AI Learning Buddy, create presentation materials, and submit evidence to the MTC platform, showcasing their completed project and reflecting on their learning journey. |
