Driving Question:
How can we implement a sustainable and realistic solution to a chosen real-world problem that will impact our community and society in a positive way?

We're kicking off the new PBL term with an Open Topic chance!

The main advantage of having an open topic is that it allows you to choose whatever topic you are interested in! If you, the learners, are interested in the issue, the research and problem-solving will be more relevant. You will be more motivated and curious to keep continuing. When you ask someone to explain something of interest to you, they frequently reveal startling mental models, problem-solving tactics, hopes, anxieties, and much more!

The following are the UN Goals that you can choose your topic of interest from!

Here is the class outline:

1. Welcome to Your PBL Journey!

Driving Question: How can we implement a sustainable and realistic solution to a chosen real-world problem that will impact our community and society in a positive way?

2. MS 1: UNDERSTAND

What is the challenge or problem you are trying to solve? In order to effectively come with a sustainable solution to a problem, it is important to have a wider view and understanding of the problem or the challenge you are trying to solve.

3. MS 2: FIELD RESEARCH

What do people or experts say about the problem? The field research allows you to observe, talk to people and collect first-hand information to understand the problem from the empathy point of view of those directly impacted by the problem you are trying to solve.

4. MS 3: POINT OF VIEW

What is the new insight that you have developed? After getting a wider view of the problem from the existing data and from the perspective of stakeholders, it is time to redefine the problem based on the new insights collected. Come up with an actionable problem statement that will be your Point of View.

5. MS 4: IDEATION

How can we best solve the problem? Ideation is generating lots of ideas and solutions without constraints. It's often the wild ideas that spark visionary thoughts.

6. MS 5: PROTOTYPING

What is the best possible design to implement the solution? Building prototypes is putting a physical form to the solution. Making the ideas tangible that forces us to think realistically about how people will interact with the concept that we are trying to design. It is when we bring ideas from paper to real-life and share them with other people.

7. MS 6: EVOLUTION

How can we effectively pitch or share our solution to the public? Evolution is the reflection phase of the outcome in the entire experience. It could be the next cycle of understanding, research, point of view, ideation, and prototyping. This is the part where you gain new insights on what works and what does not, what needs to be refined, redesigned, or experimented again.
